SIDE NOTE FOR THE LOCALS HERE IN KING COUNTY: For horses’ sake, PLEASE vote for Susan Hutchison today! Dow Constantine will CLOSE Animal Control and then we’ll be begging the Sheriff for help with skinny horses. We all know how well THAT works. Unless you want things to get a lot worse for our animals, vote for Susan.

No time to write anything complicated today, but it just occurred to me that it’s a new month which means myself and every other AQHA member here has $10 of free searches, and I have access to the Jockey Club’s tattoo traces (that’s unlimited) so if you are trying to ID a Thoroughbred, or find out who the current registered owner is of a Quarter Horse, post your question here!
When I run out of AQHA credit, I’ll post and then someone else can jump in.
I know we have folks here with Datasource for Arabian horse questions, and I’m sure we have people with APHA access and other breeds, so don’t be shy. Post it if you want to know the answer!

If any one can please look up a mare that we rescued in the 90’s her name is foxy lady. Her owner lived in colorado. She is a gray tobanio. She has had at least one gelding a chestnut tobanio. It would be great to know her registration.

The AQHA thing threw me before I knew about it and I assumed my old show horse was dead until I found out they marked them all dead at 25. If anyone in the Tomahawk, Wisconsin area knows if Jacks Sugar Bars really is dead or if he might still be around, let me know. I would be happy to ship him a 25 lb. bag of carrots for Christmas if he’s still with us!

I’m wondering about two ApHC pedigrees…
First is Go Lady Go, a 1954 ApHC mare by Chief Apache out of Gold Digger Meyer. I’ve got her sire’s (Chief Apache) information all figured out but still haven’t gotten anywhere with her dam’s side. Any help would be appreciated.

I’ve talked to his breeder but haven’t gotten anywhere. Thanks so much everyone! This is incredibly stupid, but until recently it never occurred to me that, duh, my Paint is basically a QH & that I need to know his HYPP status. I’m planning on having him genetically tested too, but I was hoping I’d get at least an idea. I’m so glad there aren’t really genetic issues associated with TBs, I think it’d kill me to have to worry about that with my other baby too! And I do have his papers, but they are currently lost in the shuffle of having moved shortly after buying him, so haven’t been able to look it up or transfer ownership yet

Addendum! What’s a good way to learn about Paint bloodlines? I’m so curious about if any of his ancestors have done anything impressive or important, but I grew up around Arabs & TBs and never knew much about the stock horse types.
Since you say you can’t keep up on your email… SOON, but I can’t say when, I’ll have information about TWENTY, yes 20 TB’s that will need new homes. I know virually nothing about them, but I believe they are currently in training and are probably not winning. The owner (or trainer, not sure) is based in Dutchess County NY. I’ve been to the farm before to look at a giveaway mare, it was a nice enough place and the horses looked well cared for. As soon as I have real information, I will make it available to Fugs and I will probably post to the COTH Giveaways Forum as well. I have been told that these horses will be “free to a good home”. Let’s see if we can keep every single one of them out of the local auction. I get nothing out of this, short of “dibs” on the first pick.

Trillium and New Balance Training: THANK YOU for the update on Bey Luvly. I guess the name was spelled without a space in the middle which is why it wasn’t found at first.
I too am familiar with the former Parkwood herd and would not mind corresponding with anyone knowledgeable. I was one who tried desperately for YEARS to resolve that horrific situation. I don’t wish ill of the dead but Mrs. Barkley’s husband was more to blame than she was – and she was pretty guilty, believe you me. All around very, very bad. I understand that this hoarding situation might end up being one of those in the upcoming documentary on animal hoarding but won’t know for sure for several months. This was one of the worst not just for sheer numbers but also for some other things that were going on. For one thing they managed to hold off the authorities for DECADES by legal shenanigans. There were other even worse things which should not be discussed in a public forum.
I think Fugly might know of someone at KCAC who worked on the case who would know some things.
I did find Parkwood Princis a while back, that was a horrific situation and if that mare’s new owner wants to e-mail me I can provide details. However, when I found Princis on a website she was listed for sale probably because she is a barren mare thanks to the awful things that happened to her.
There were some really nice Parkwood horses. In every hoarding situation there are nice horses! Nice horses who die or are eventually slaughtered because in a large seizure all the underfunded municipal agencies are really able to do is have them killed.
After all these years and after all my studying and learning about the problem – and all the other people far more qualified who study and learn about the problem including the researchers at Tufts University who finally put a “label” on the “syndrome” – we all are no closer to really understanding the problem nor finding a resolution for it.
I’m sorry Fugs but I am one of those who says NO MORE BREEDING ANYTHING unless inspected, trial-ed and licensed, as in Europe. When every life is precious financially then every life will be precious – period.

Could someone please look up the contact info for the current owner of purebred arab Zanzibar Zahd, a chestnut gelding, I think 1990. I have always regretted selling him.
Fugly – as far as I know Parkwood never had any Khemosabi breeding (they didn’t like it) though quite a bit of other CMK breeding (some very old lines, Farana, Raseyn close up, etc.) A lot of CMK mares outcrossed on Polish and Egyptian. Odd – because the horse in that photo looks really familiar.
I understand their one big winning racehorse Parkwood Samson got rescued by someone in the Portland Oregon area but a letter sent to the datasource address for that owner came back undeliverable as addressed. Samson had an interesting health issue which I would love to pass along to them (if he’s even still alive).
Fugs I believe that AHA automatically declares a horse dead at 25, or they used to, because allegedly some unethical people were showing and breeding “ringers.” Owners were supposed to send original reg papers back to the registry when the horse passed but many people did not do so for one reason or another, usually having nothing whatsoever to do with ethics.

I’d love to find out what’s happened to a breeding stock paint mare I used to own. Her name is BR Knight’s Angel (may or may not be an apostrophe- I don’t have a copy of her papers with me). She’s a bay with a blaze and some socks. Suppose anyone could see where she’s at, if she’s been shown, and how many homes she’s had since she lived in Hutchinson, MN? I think about her often, and I’d sure appreciate it.

This is completely OT, but I’m hoping to get some help and/or advice. There is a h/j boarding stable in Weaverville, NC (just north of Asheville) that just had a horse pulled who was literally being starved. The crazy lady who runs the place insists that he was being fed, but the vet report states otherwise. The pictures are really upsetting. The horse came to her 6 months ago on loan and has gone from perfect condition to probably a 2. There are other horses at the barn who are not in that situation, but I am worried that they will become that way. I’d really like to get the word out about this place. My friends and I are writing letters to go with the charges being filed against her with animal control. Beyond that, what else can we do?

If anyone is still doing this, can someone look up Kings Two Eyed Girl? She’s a QH mare, and I’m trying to find her (and her most recent foal). I have a bad feeling she went to slaughter because I haven’t been able to locate her since 2005. She was my sister’s horse.

Sweet N Silk was mated to Dues Americandream (and thanks for the name correction) and it is on record for the stud books in 1995 so i can still get Skippy! registered if I so desired. But what APHA lists as the current owner is actually the breeder of Skippy! (and was my riding instructor) as well. damn, damn, double damn!

Haflinger…Aficianado. About 10 years old. Anyone know if I can find out any information on him with the haflinger registery? I believe he was bred in Pa.
Not sure if anyone is able to look this mare up, 1990 AQHA, Pros Twister by The Promoter out of Nip Poco Time.
I used to live where she was a brood mare and was one of my favorites. I gave my notice to move and several of the mares were sold to a dealer. She was blind in one eye and going blind in the other. I have a horrible feeling where she went. If I would have known that she ws going to be sold, I would have begged and borrowed to get her.
I am hoping that maybe someone saw what a sweetie she was and gave her a nice retirement giving the grandkids rides.
