Honey, you are NOT a victim!

Even for Craigslist, this is a special kind of fail.

warmblood

“this guy is 2 years old warm blood this boy is the sweetest baby youl find he always follows u like a puppy dog he always lets you halter him and do what ever with him he has had bridle on and saddle pads and no problem he lets you lean across him with your arm over him he is just a real sweet boy with be a awsome horse no matter what u do with him he has that great personality im asking 1000 for him but will consider offers on him he needs to find a good home and the ability to train him and take him any direction you want i hate having to sell him but i have to please call me at XXX-XXX-XXXX please feel free to give me offers these first two pics are old pics from july he is much bigger now hes 15.3 hands and way pretier last pic is now

ps here is the reason i really need to find this horse a home i am fighting cps for my kids that they illegally took from me and i have to get a lawyer so i need to sell my horses i need to fight and not let that organized crime ring take my children”

OK, now that I’ve made you all snork coffee all over your desks, isn’t it just amazing how most of us are never in any danger of having animal control take our animals or CPS take our children? What I think is funny about this argument is that it’s NOT like animal control wants more animals or CPS wants more children! In both cases, foster homes are far too scarce as are monetary resources to care for them. Lady, EVERYBODY at CPS, hell, everybody in the WORLD wishes YOU could take care of your children adequately so that others would not have to intervene. There are a million resources out there to get free or low cost help for whatever issues you may have, and improve your situation and parenting skills. If CPS had to go so far as to take your children out of your care, you are not being persecuted — odds are you have major, major problems that you are unwilling to address.

Stuff like this just cracks me up. Organized crime ring. Yeah. Right. And you’d better wear a tin foil hat, too, or the government will read your thoughts and mind control you…

Why do these people ALWAYS have kids and ALWAYS own innocent animals? Why can’t they just stick to hurting themselves?

Side note:  The horse actually looks pretty cute…I’m sure he’d appreciate an upgrade if you’re interested!

I thought we had more freaks in the Denver/Colorado Springs freakslist than PNW but I was wrong. There are a few extra freaks today on your Seattle freakslist.

The one selling the Connemara/Welsh stallion seems normal though. I would buy that pony if I were allowed to get another one…$650 would *not* buy you a nice pony like that on the east coast, and you hardly ever see a Connemara around here.

People I’ve know who work in Social Services say CPS is very busy. It takes more than a few phone calls from the mob before they’ll start the process of placing your babies in foster care (or “taking them away,” if you like). But, you have to admit it looks like someone feeds and grooms that horse. The good news is I wouldn’t worry about her keeping the kids even if you give her $1000 for the warmblood. Seems like a steal to me.

  2. BWPBaby says:

With an ad like that, what are the odds that he’s an actual, honest to god, warmblood instead of a Tennessee Walkarabipercheraflingpaint? I’d say slim to none, but he’s still a really cute little guy.

  3. asbrider says:

Too bad she isn’t smart enough to sell her horses and use the money to get herself an education.

  4. Charm says:

Wow. How can CPS take someone illegally? Aren’t they called in by law enforcement?

Maybe they took the children due to her lack of punctuation. I will never understand why people wish to sell horses for a fairly large amount of money, yet refuse to pay a friend $5 to proofread their advertisements.

Ah well. I just hope that the horse looks smaller in the ‘old’ pictures because he is truly grown now, and not because a lack of feed has resulted in a ‘taller’ appearance.

  5. H R says:

You! Out of the Gene Pool! Honestly, are some people just born stupid, or do they grow that way?

    • Tabitha Handly says:

      LOL !!!!

    • samsgirl says:

Very well said!  Bravo.  I can’t believe people like that are aloud to reproduce and aren’t just steralized on the spot.  This is what my husband and I all an EPIC FAIL.  Don’t you wish you could just make bumper stickers that read “FAIL” and just stick them on peoples faces and cars and stuff??  Kind of make a big marker for the rest of the world to steer clear?

      • fhotd says:

Yes.  Yes, I do.  That would be awesome!

        • CleanStalls says:

There’s a fad in my town, where you buy a magnet for your car that says “Choose Civility in Howard County.” Well, I saw another version of it the other day: “Choose Sterility in Howard County.” Freakin’ awesome!Maybe print “Choose Sterility” on t-shirts and shoot them at people like they do at baseball games.

  6. TBs Rock says:

This woman has had other horses posted for sale on CL as well. The story started out a little different, but has evolved into this one. Would you even want to go out and deal with a person of this mentality when buying a horse? You just know that when you got out there to see the horse it would not be as advertized. It is probably a 13 hand Quarter Pony cross with major problems. Do people with CPS hunting them down own normal horses?

  7. evenkeel says:

I have to say, anytime someone writes an entire paragraph without a single punctuation mark, you know they’re batty! I’m the queen of run-ons, but that’s nuts. Poor kids and poor baby. I hope they all find better homes.

    • chlorinatingthegenepool says:

I received a simliar message yesterday from someone who didn’t use a single punctuation mark other than a comma…couldn’t spell worth a hoot…and whose overall message didn’t apply to me nor concern me.  B-A-T-T-Y!

  8. lazyhorse73 says:

What the heck. I did spit my coffee out. That is such a lame excuse and there are reason for taking someones kids away. They dont just “steal” kids. They have to have a reason. $1000 will not pay for a lawyer! Thats for sure. I just cant believe the statement that there shows the mentality of the person who wrote the ad. The gov’t has a kidnapping ring? I never knew that. So eveyone should have concern for their kids being kidnapped by our own gov’t.
Yikes!!!! Haaa haaa haaa lmao. my sons father tried to start something by calling DCF. The guy walked into my house and thought it was a joke and said that he didnt know why they needed to come out. I was upset, crying. I told him I work 3 jobs and I just got home and didnt have time to straighten anything out. He was laughing. He said. no that there was nothing wrong with my house at all and that he was wasting his time being there. He said my home was nice and and had a homey feeling to it. .But when he stopped in at my sons fathers house he found it to be a hostile environment(i guess thats what they mean when they say what comes around goes around). DCF threw it out. it was just the dad trying to stir things up. Thats like when my sons dad was paying $40 a week and telling the judge that I was starving my (husky built)son and using the $40 to feed my horses. Its like ummm no thats called working and holding down a job, which he never seemed to have been able to do. They then would pick on his weight afetr( umm I thought I was starving him) I had to work 3 jobs to pay for a lawyer but I also took care of my kid well too. I would work around my son. Now I only have to work a full and part time job. Thank you for letting me vent. So sorry for going on like that.

    • fhotd says:

That’s exactly it. When you are doing nothing wrong, you have nothing to worry about if animal control wants to see your animals or CPS wants to check you out – as you learned! When either entity takes action, THERE IS a problem.

      • WhenCowsAttack says:

        Exactly, Fugs.

One time I had a CPS agent and a police officer stop by my house asking to come in. They said they had gotten a report that we were doing drugs in front of the kids (wtf) and that we had a whole bunch of stolen laptops and mountain bikes (double wtf).

I laughed heartily, welcomed them into my home, and offered them tea, and when they asked to take my 12 yo son outside to ask him about these things, said “Absolutely- no problem”.

They treated us very well, told us that the report was completely unfounded (duh!) and stayed and chatted for a few (the cop admiring my beautiful German Shepherd) before leaving.

I wasn’t worried, because we had done nothing wrong.

    • Wombatish says:

Reminds me of House when the CPS representative comes to visit Cuddy:He’s like… “The fact that the house is a mess just means you work hard at your job and spend the time you have left with your child. The fact that you’re embarrassed by it being a mess means you care.”There’s a difference between a messy house and a dangerous environment. Same with animals… your barn may not be state of the art or spic and span but it’s probably still perfectly suitable.

  9. Cowgirly says:

I do find it intersting when people post a photo of horse prancing along, flagging tail and feeling good then they spend the entire description trying to convince you he’s got the laid back personality of a seasoned QH. tee hee.

He is a cutie, and it’s unfortunate she has to sell him but even more unfortunate that she is using her CL ad for sympathy about CPS. Not to mention that she gets provided assistance (a caseworker and, I am sure, legal rep if required) *by* DSHS.

I just wish people would stick to what matters when it comes to selling a horse. Temperment, training, bloodlines (if applicable), health issues/soundness, experience, vices/fears, height, etc. I bet whoever goes to look and asks when he was last vetted/wormed/feet will get a big excuse about how she was JUST about to do that when CPS attacked!

  10. WhenCowsAttack says:

WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY do people feel the need to air their dirty laundry/personal crap in public to God-knows-how-many strangers? I don’t get it, it looks SO trashy and geeze- what if CPS saw that post? Do you really think seeing her refer to them in that manner is going to endear them to her?

I don’t get it- I just don’t. I cannot imagine airing my most personal business to anyone who will listen. At McDonalds. “Super size it, and did you know that CPS just took my kids?” At the grocery store: “Plastic, so I can suffocate that rat-bastard from CPS that took my kids”

    Classless, classless, classless.

  11. MySanity says:

I was a foster parent to a now 40 yr old. She has severe depression and is now, again, hospitalized. It’s been months of lockdown and years of electroshock therapy. Kids are with family. But I heard that all of her animals need homes, 2 dogs and several cats. I can’t even rally anymore. This has happened several times over the years and many animals in and out of her life. After keeping one of her cats for 6 mo and bonding with him I found out she took him to a kill shelter because of yet one more “crisis” in her life. I would have taken him back in a NY minute. Oh, and she’s had CPS knocking at her door more than once. I can only listen to the laments so long and I shut it out. Meds don’t always work. Shit, sometimes nothing works. I was asked if I would have her for Thanksgiving and I said no. It felt weird but I have an elderly mother to deal with and I have only so much to give. It’s called emotional exhaustion. Yet it’s always the innocent that really suffer.

  12. zebradreams07 says:

She says the he is Friesian/TB, which is believable from what I can see in the photos. I had asked about seeing him several days ago and haven’t gotten a reply.

    • drsgjunky says:

Then what you have is a Friesian/TB cross, not a Warmblood (or warm blood).Another case of deception. And as usual, this has nothing to do with her CPS problems.A $1000 for a lawyer… Good luck with that. That might get you lunch.

      • whitewolfe001 says:

Exactly. Reminds me of the time I was asked by a friend of a friend to come out and look at a horse to buy.  These non-horsey parents had an eight year old daughter who had been taking riding lessons for maybe six months and was just starting crossrails.  They informed me that we were going to look at a “warmblood”.  (A warmblood for an 8 year old? okay…..) Well, we show up and it’s a western facility, and they bring out a three year old Percheron cross.  I (half sarcastically) asked the farm owner if there was some kind of mistake, because we were told we were going to be looking at a warmblood.  He then oh-so-patiently explained to me that when you cross a heavy ‘cold’ breed with a lighter ‘hot’ breed, that’s a warmblood. Yes, well….  I didn’t argue. To top things off, these men had no objection to trying to sell a massive, barely broken 3 year old (who would not show us the horse at a canter undersaddle, or ride her outside the round pen) as an appropriate mount for an eight year old beginner.  And these weren’t some backyard owners trying to unload their pasture pet, these guys were running a large professional facility. I had to spend the entire car ride home explaining to the father why it was a horrible, horrible idea to buy that horse.

    …Could be used as a broodmare/mechanic???

    • peanutpalomino says:

Haha! Cute little mare. But it sure does crack me up when people can’t even spell an acronym right (see title of ad).

      • Rainbeau says:

Yeah, I know a woman who brags about how well-bred her mare is (Should be a world champion, blah blah blah)……..Innocently ask her what breed the horse is, and you get “AQH”.  MmmmK.  And damn, I wish one of my geldings would man up and fix the truck!  That would be SO handy to have if you break down on the side of the interstate……………

      • chlorinatingthegenepool says:

Maybe it’s that rare Aqua Velva breed?

    • samsgirl says:

Not quite sure what the bum shot is about either?!?  I have a horse that bows on command, but it’s not done anywhere near a vehicle.  This one needs to be slapped with the FAIL sticker too.

  15. Goatlady says:

Is it just me or does that last picture look like a *gulp* recipe card?!?! Scary.

  16. Josie says:

    OK, this line…

Colt is listed at 14.75 hands, but sire and dam as 15.3. WTF! Do you know how to measure or not?

  18. windingwinds says:

CPS is a poorly run organization. It’s not fair but it’s not the mob either. They do send kids back to horrible parents. And many foster homes are not better than the scum the kid came from. Not sure why you would broadcast your problems on the WWW.

  19. Morgan_Horse_Queen says:

As I am a Court Appointed Special Advocate/Guardian ad Litem, I could write a book about this topic. Let’s just say that given the rapidly shrinking state and county budgets and the honest desire of most CPS people NOT to take your children, if they were removed, there’s a reason. And there ain’t no illegal about it – the kids don’t get removed unless a judge is involved – the social workers don’t just march in your house and snatch your kids. Definitely another side to this story. If it’s like our area, it probably involves massive amounts of opiates and lots of neglect, not to mention some real stupidity about raising kids.

Be skeptical, be very skeptical! (Oh, and get the horse out of there!)

  20. Olivia Grey says:

Oh my heart goes out to the children and animals involved in a puctuationless life. Can you imagine how hard it would be to live in a place where everyday is just another Manic Monday.

Plus of which I thought it was not legal to sell pets on Craigslist so what up with these odd posts? Are horses not pets?

    • Cadence says:

In New Mexico, and in other states too I’m sure, horses are not considered pets by the law. They are, by definition, called livestock.

    • Lucky66 says:

“Plus of which I thought it was not legal to sell pets on Craigslist so what up with these odd posts? Are horses not pets?”They are pets to many of us, but you can sell livestock on freakslist. This includes the usual: horses, cattle, sheep, goats, and also rabbits. You can’t sell cats or dogs, but you can put one up for adoption. BYBs usually try to get around this by calling their Border Collie mixes “livestock guardians” and selling them for a $500 “adoption fee.”

    • chamoiswillow says:

Sadly, horses are still legally considered livestock, not pets, and therefore the sale ads are usually posted in the “farm and garden” section of CL, rather than the pet section.

    • zebradreams07 says:

No, they’re considered livestock. Although people still sell pets all the time – CL has no mods, remember? Just flaggers/people with no lives, who spend as much time flagging legitimate ads and starting drama as they do actually moderating.

    • HammerHorses says:

Sadly to those of us who do love our horses as pets – they are considered livestock by most state/city/county regulations.  They only consider “pets” to be companion animals that are more or less not used for human consumption…  as sad as it is, that’s the easiest way for me to sum it up.

  21. Josie says:

Olivia — horses are categorized as livestock and can be sold in the Farm and Garden section of Craigslist, along with cattle, sheep, goats and the like.Side note — Your ad can still get flagged for all sorts of real and imagined indiscretions — there are people out there with search routines that look for keywords so they can flag ads.  (The words “get a life” spring to mind, but I digress.)  When I was selling a “breeding stock” (i.e. solid, no spots) APHA gelding my ad kept getting flagged and removed.  I found a forum on Craigslist ad rules and etiquette (those words spring to mind again) and someone reviewed my ad for me.  He told me that a flagger most likely had the word “breeding” in a search bot (apparently breeding/stud service ads are not allowed even in Farm and Garden).  There was no check for the context of the word, just find-and-flag.Funny world, Craiglist.

  22. OldMorgans says:

Geez, what IS wrong w/you Fugly? Don’t you know that the only reason AC takes animals is to sell them and make money?!!And don’t you know the only reason CPS takes children is to sell them and make money?!!–wait, that didn’t come out right. Ahhh, CPS takes children cuz they have nothing better to do? or maybe cuz they are an organized crime ring? or, well, my mind wobbles at this point. At least, hopefully the horses will get an upgrade on their homes and she won’t be getting more. And the children will benefit. But oh man, once the kids are in the system, it can really go bad depending on the foster homes.

  23. rollkursucks says:

I’m not sure if it’s different in every state, but in my state, CPS appoints you an attourney, and in my experience they have been very good at their jobs because they exclusively work CPS cases and know all the in’s and out’s so there would be no reason to hire your own. I’m a caseworker; no personal experience with CPS (got no kids)  :) I have had a lot of clients who are involved with CPS cases and have participated in staffings and coordinated info/records with their lawyers, who seemed like bulldogs as far as representing their clients.  I have been very impressed. They seem a lot better than some of the public defenders at the county court building, whom I’ve also worked with when we share clients.  Maybe it’s different in different states…..  And yes, CPS does everything they can to reunify the families.  In my opinion, if anything they’re a little too lenient, but I guess they have to be with lack of resources. In any case, it’s already been said, but why on earth would you put that in your ad?  The obvious first question in everyone’s mind is going to be “what did she do to lose her kids” and most of the answers that come to mind are going to make me want to stay far away from that lady. Most likely not going to want to go hang out at her house looking at horses while she smokes crack and then swipes my wallet as she gives me a leg up onto the horse.

  24. Wildrose says:

In all fairness I’ve heard of cases where CPS went nutso and took kids for terrible reasons… they’re a government organization and not infallible. And very difficult to fight.

But crime syndicate? Mmhmm. Sure. That makes me think the kids were taken away for very good reasons indeed…

  25. cattypex says:

Sounds like a drugs + denial thing to me…..UGH

  26. iheartclive says:

She sounds insane, not only because she refers to CPS as “organized crime” but who the hell VOLUNTEERS this sort of information in their ad?  They don’t think for a moment that that might be somewhat of a turn-off?Something I don’t get about craigslisters, why do they never use proper punctuation or grammar? You’re trying to SELL something!  Make your ad look good!  Make sure you put “a lot” instead of “alot” so that people don’t think your a total dumbass!

  27. PrairieFarmer says:

Last I knew, the Fugly Blog wasn’t a court of law.  And last I knew our criminal justice system was based on an “innocent til proven guilty” concept.Sure, this lady displayed poor judgment in listing her CPS battles on an horse ad list.  Absolutely no reason to do that unless you want to be featured on FHOTD!  Does it make it perhaps MORE LIKELY that she actually behaved in manner warranting her children to be taken from her?  Perhaps.  But that’s all I think can be said one way or another about the merits of her case.  As far as I know nothing written on this blog included any facts of the case.So making statements that she obviously should have her kids taken away, well, I think that is rather “mob mentality.”  Saying she wrote a pretty ridiculous ad if she wants to sell an attractive horse, well yeah, I agree with that. And yes there are a lot of bad homes out there.  CPS gets accused just as much of not taking kids they should have as they do of taking kids they shouldn’t have.  It’s a sucky job.  But its a job run by people, and as far as I’ve experience, no person is infallible.  CPS makes mistakes too.Hope none of you ever have a pissed off, hormonal 14 year old girl that accuses your husband/boyfriend/whatever of sexually molesting them.  Even if not only does the wife not believe it, none of the other kids believe it, there is no physcial evidence, and said 14 year old girl accused her stepfather of THE SAME THING a year or so previously when she was pissed at him.  Even if your husband sits in jail for a year waiting for the case to go to trial, returns a hung jury with 11 of 12 jurors voting for acquittal and the prosecutor agrees to drop the case.  Because even when your husband finally DOES get out of jail, case dropped – NO CONVICTION AND SPECIFIC COMMENTS FROM 11 OUT OF 12 JURORS THAT THE CASE SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN BROUGHT, your pissed off 14 year old HAS STILL BEEN REMOVED FROM YOUR HOME BY CPS NEVER TO RETURN!  And yeah, my husband just tried this case so, while I’m not a lawyer, I did get to hear a lot about it. And BTW, you only get appointed a “free” lawyer if you qualify for it (i.e. you are considerent “indigent”).  My guess, this lady, if she has enough money to take care of horses in at least acceptable manner, did not quality for public defender.  Selling horses to pay for attorney fees.  And yeah, $1000 probably will be far, far, far from enough, innocent of the charges or not…

  28. ZellGirl says:

I rather enjoy the fact that she slanders a state-run organization that she should be doing her best to impress and brown-nose, then gives out her identifying information (phone number) for that organization to know exactly who is making the disparaging remarks. FTW!

    • fhotd says:

Yeah, that was definitely one of my first thoughts upon reading this!  While I don’t disagree that occasionally innocent people are arrested/accused of things, I tend to assume that innocent people do not throw tantrums on CL which make them sound like they are more than a few fries short of a Happy Meal.  Her approach makes it easy to believe that whatever CPS has on her is most likely valid.

  29. qthorsegal says:

I didn’t read all the comments, so maybe this has already been mentioned, but is she a real person, or someone who runs “cheap Friesian” ads as scams? Or, is she doing the old “bait and switch” ads to sell her horses? You see so many Friesian ads  on the net for the same horse, yet the location, the name, the age, the owner’s name is always changing. Some people just have too much time on their hands.

  32. zwarte says:

That horse may be a sweet boy, but he doesn’t have the hind end, the front end or the face of a friesian.

  33. marzbarz says:

*SIGHS*  I’m a social worker, I have worked with kids in the system and will continue to, and the best outcome as far as CPS general policy is for the parent(s) and children to be reunited once the parent(s) has/have completed counseling, parenting classes, drug rehab, etc.  Keeping families together through intervention and follow-up.  (I know I’m preaching to the choir here, but this really is a “special kind of fail!”)On the plus side – the picture shows a horse with nice potential action for the future if given an upgrade (and a gelding procedure).  I’d love for him to be in the SE Texas area as I bet I could find him a home.

  34. ShesPureGold says:

Yikes! I’m pretty sure if I was having my kids taken away I would be mortified..not that I even have kids, but hypothetically speaking..and would not be plastering it all over the internet! Silly thing is, your post will probably do what she wishes, but also provide the horses with a happier life. Ironic as it is. P.S.Moa is awesome. Thanks so much for the lead.

  37. C2J says:

While I don’t dare comment on the situation the lady from this CL ad may or may not be in, I do want to say that…YES .. families really can be railroaded by CPS illegally. My wonderful aunt and uncle, who were appointed guardian for their grand child that was previously under the custody of his biological shitbag of a father and serving probation at age 15, were railroaded by the CPS system. Their grandchild decided having chores and responsibilities around the farm was a little too much to ask, so the grandchild (with the help of the shitbag’s family) filed false accusations against my aunt and uncle. Now, these very wonderful and giving people, are fighting against FELONY charges filed by a juvenille convict that are not true (yes, I have read the transcripts and am an acting witness, the claims are false and CPS is on public record stating they falsified some of the case because they “didn’t have the resources” for a proper investigation). In the state of MI, any charges that are filed in regards to child abuse / neglect / whatever stick on a person’s record for LIFE. Plus, the child victum, if the charges stick, are entitled to recover monetary damages until age 28. My aunt and uncle are going into thousands of dollars in debt, are facing lifetime felony convictions, and could lose everything they have once this grandchild is old enough to sue them. A grandchild that is serving probation for drug dealing, drug possession, and shotting another individual over a drug deal gone wrong. While I completely agree this ad should NOT have had that little PS side note, do not make assumptions about this person’s situation without doing your own research.

    • PrairieFarmer says:

Exactly what I was saying and a similar situation in some ways to the one my husband went to trial on as well.  I hope your aunt and uncle have a good lawyer.  But you now the really sucky thing?  Even if they are exonerated of the charges they will still have the legal fee to pay!  Most folks don’t realize if you are falsely accused and EVEN IF it as proven as such, you are still stuck with the legal bill, at least in this state and in most criminal cases.I’m with you.   I don’t know anything about this woman.  She may well deserve to have her kids taken away.  But just because she was stupid enough to talk about it on craigslist isn’t proof positive enough in my mind she should!

  38. mbr says:

I called CPS about some real honest-to-goodness child abuse (throwing a child across a room, among other things), and not a darn thing was done about it. I’m finding this lady’s story hard to believe as well. I’m sure she’s the victim in her own mind, but I’m guessing CPS had some valid reasons for removing her children, just on the tone of her post.

  39. paint_horse_milo says:

Did you see she has another horse listed with the same excuse?http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/grd/1489086726.htmlpretty cute little paint too. they arent too bad of horses. too bad this yahoo is in the same county I live in! Crap!

  40. jumpymeister says:

My dad lives in the Seattle area and is a volunteer for CPS….he is a Child Advocate…he follows the child through the entire process and works with parents, cps, lawyers, counselors, etc to see the big picture and makes reccomendations for the child to makes sure that their best interests are taken care of. He has told me about a few of the cases he has worked on and how difficult it can be – and believe me, they do everything in their power to help the parents take better care of their children so that they can be together if it is in the childs best interests…..so if this woman has had her children removed from the home, it was not a good situation…..I can’t imagine what this woman’s horses go through…

  41. MelissaV says:

Ugh. Among homeschoolers there are some examples of social workers assuming homeschooling = abusive-nutsos-using-religion-as-an-excuse, some of which included an illegal entry and strip searches and questioning that left the kids scared of the doorbell, but none of them resulted in the kids being taken away. There’s also a great group called Homeschool Legal Defence Association that just loves to stick up for the parents in those. (They’re the ones we get the stories from – check out their newsletter if you want names and dates.) The stories are also very, very rare – perhaps half a dozen nationally per year. I’m sure CPS makes mistakes. But when someone rants that they’re a criminal kidnapping ring? Yeah, I’ll listen to that about as much as I listen to people who insist that they weren’t speeding, the cop was out to get them. Probably less. A lot less.

  42. Asiasays says:

This reminds me of the classic ‘will put my puppies down if nobody buys them’ tack of selling animals. If you don’t buy my horse, I will have no money for legal fees to fight for my kids…Sad sad SadStop BY-breeding horses. Get a job. Be a parent. Teach your kids respect for life. Let your foals be foals. Grow some cojones and stop using your wife as a deterrant for potential buyers/animal rights activists/internet posters. And if this list is too long just pick one…Be a Parent

  43. windingwinds says:

MHQ (if you were referring to me) I lived next to a foster family when I was in HS. I’ve seen the molested kids forced to go back to horrid parents only to come back a few months later. And of course I cant talk bout current patients.

    • Butterflygirls5 says:

While I was away at a training academy for several months, my grandson was removed from his mother for threatening to kill him and herself. Fortuntely, he has been able to be fostered within our family and we know he is safe. Unfortunately, CPS is determined to give him back to his mother, who has failed parenting classes due to no-shows (one of which is when she didn’t like the ride provided for her) and who also got kicked out a program providing housing due to fighting. CPS has continued to give her ‘another chance’. Over and over again. Quits a job because she’s upset with a friend? NO problem! Just find another job and everything is okay! I can’t tell you how frustrating this has been. All we want is for her to put the child first instead of herself, for once.So that said, CPS in no way WANTED to take my grandson and keep him in ‘the system’, but they truly had no choice at the time. I was not here to take custody of him. But, they are also not perfect as is seen by their insistence to give him back to his mother.Just my experience.Cindy

  45. TBDancer says:

After more than 35 years in public educaiton, I can say with certainty that for some of these people, the ONLY thing about them that works is their reproductive system. Their brains are on permanent or chronic vacation.Regarding CPS, I have a friend whose sister is currently being stonewalled by a CPS and the courts regarding being named guardian of her granddaughter who is disabled. The stonewalling has been going on for at least two years. The child is perhaps 7 or 8 and is currently in foster care–the child’s mother is a junkie, but she gets herself together now and then to appear at the hearings and throw just enough of a monkey wrench into the works that it’s basically back to Square One. There is a second CPS worker now (the first one was dismissed by the family court judge because it was obvious there was a personality conflict between the worker and my friend’s sister); the second worker is making recommendations without having met ONCE with the sister. There are court dates set and each time someone important on the other side does not show up or the paperwork is incomplete or missing altogether. The judge cannot make a decision but he has reamed those on the CPS side new ones on a regular basis.Very frustrating, needless to say, and an example of our tax dollar at work here in California.OT: Fugs, I am able to post comments if I enter through Internet Explorer rather than straight from AOL. Love technology. Just LOVE it. Not. ;o)

Regardless of what CPS may or may not be planning for this lady or what is real or imagined on her part, what sort of individual writes such an atrocious ad and puts it out there for the world to read? And mob mentality? Oh paleeeeease!! You’ve got to be kidding. Heaven forbid people should comment on a ludicrous situation and make obvious observations. What person in their ‘right mind’ would place such an ad and not expect some judgement to follow. Someone a bit wacko might but not a normal, relatively well adjusted person wouldn’t.If you must resort to emotional manipulation to sell something then I’d be asking, why?Surely if what she’s selling is any good, it will sell itself. All the crazy stories and poorly punctuated text does is ensure that the poor creature she is selling has little or no chance of finding the upgrade it so obviously needs.I never cease to be amazed by the stories Fugly brings us but this one is right up there. Makes our horse industry here in Australia look positively wonderful. Sheesh!!!

back to the original post..i have never posted here before but i did email this girl and tell her that i thought that this was the worst reason to sell a horse i’ve ever heard of..and here was her response.WARNING..SIT YOUR COFFEE DOWN FIST..I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP…

“you have made it on the idiot list cause neither of my horses are fugly but you wouldnt know shit considering you dont have a brain in your little pee size head so keep your worthless opinions to your self cause we dont want to her it do it again and i will talk to my daddy mr police officer about your harastment thank you ”

    THIS DOESN’T EVEN MAKE SENSE!!

  54. kim says:

She has another one… http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/grd/1494020687.html The mare looks cute enough. If I was able to I would take her just to get her out of there

  55. Jenny Islander says:

@coconail: In short, you are stupid for saying that her horses are fugly, you should shut up because you don’t know anything, and if you say anything more it’s harassment and she will sic the police on you.

Wow. That’s four Fuglyblog Flamer Bingo hits in three lines. Five hits if you never called her horses fugly and she’s responding to something you didn’t actually say.

  56. Jenny Islander says:

And from my Fuglyblog Bad Breeder/Seller Bingo list:

*Dangerous fencing in horse’s living space (if that is barbed wire strung on logs and not something less horrific).
*Bad poses; hard to tell what horse actually looks like.
*Owner makes claims about horse that photos don’t bear out, or why is an affectionate, biddable horse only shown from a distance and in motion?
*Ad is incoherent in what appears to be writer’s first language. Okay, maybe she can’t find the shift key, but you think she would have noticed the periods at the ends of sentences, if nothing else, in 12 years of school.
*TMI about personal life being used in attempt to sell horse. People who are coming to look at her horse do not need to know about her issues with Child Protective Services. If she wants to explain that this horse would normally be too good to sell or priced higher, she could talk about “sudden catastrophic expenses,” “unexpected financial issues,” “emergency that will cost more than I have in savings,” or something else that doesn’t yank strangers into her personal life.

I could also add “general failure to plan.” If she is really going to engage a lawyer, $1,000 is not going to do much. She’s better off looking for somebody who does pro bono work.

We can see who has the pea-sized brain. The ad is still the same with the same reason for selling the horse.

OMG I almost did spit my drink out when I read that post. I have seen some crazy things on craigslist but nothing compared to the fact that she thinks that CPS illegally seized her kids. Come on. I agree with everyone else that $1000 WILL NOT get you a lawyer. Plus, I bet if she figures out what she did wrong in the first place for CPS to come and take her kids (and fixes it), then maybe-just maybe- they might give them back to her. Wow.
